David Pavlosky Interview

Hunter College documentary filmmaker David Pavlosky reflects on his dedication to subjects like LGBTQ rights, religion, homophobia, and politics. His first documentary “Don’t Bring Scott,” describes the challenge of his religious parents accepting his male partner as a family member. “PUZZLES: When Hate Came to Town” explores the damaging effects of a Neo-Nazi hate crime carried out in a New Bedford, Massachusetts gay bar. In his last work “Stand Up, Stand Out,” David tells the unique story of activism that took place in San Francisco during the burgeoning Gay Liberation Movement of the 1970s when a group of teachers opened a gay and lesbian comedy club that flourished in, of all places, an old mortuary.
